August 21st: Dismissal Delayed for Solar Eclipse

Categories: GHnews

As you may have heard, on Monday, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun, a very rare treat (read here for more information).
Given the incredible educational opportunity that this represents, our academics team is pulling together a plan for this day. While there are many more details to come, APS has decided to delay dismissal by 30 minutes on this day to ensure that all of our students are able to experience the eclipse, which is scheduled to last only a few brief moments right around when we are typically dismissing elementary students (2:30ish). Given our tiered transportation system, it will be necessary to dismiss all students 30 minutes late. And don’t worry…APS is supplying NASA-approved solar glasses for all students to ensure that they don’t miss out on this special opportunity.
