What is the mission of the Acorns to Oaks Foundation?

  • To financially support the tradition of International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program education for Garden Hills Elementary through immediate and long-term gifts.

What is the difference between the Foundation and the PTA?

  • The Foundation exists to provide long-term financial security; to ensure resources are available to the School for educational opportunities, today and for future generations.
  • The PTA is dedicated to fostering relationships between students, parents, faculty, alumni and the community. PTA fundraisers provide short-term support for student activities, classroom supplies and enrichment programs.

What is the Annual Fund and where does my donation go?

  • The Annual Fund is the most direct way for alumni, friends and family to support Garden Hills Elementary. Donations made to the Annual Fund directly support the student learning experience by funding annual expenses such as field trips, faculty training, library resources and more. Generosity from donors like you forms the community that supports a memorable Garden Hills Elementary experience for all students.

I pay local taxes. Why do you need more money?

  • Garden Hills Elementary is a public school and its teachers, administrators and educators do a great job with the state and federal funding they are provided. However, as public funding decreases, the expectation for Garden Hills’ educational excellence and our quality product remains.
  • The Foundation raises funds to support and enhance the district’s academic programs and educational needs and provide enrichment opportunities for students and staff today and in the future, regardless of the level of public funding.
  • The Foundation’s additional resources help ensure growth and innovative advances in educational opportunities, inspirational fine art experiences and meaningful one-of-a-kind events.

What is the duration of the fiscal year and when should I contribute?

  • The fiscal year runs from September 1 through August 31 each year. Gifts during any point of this timeframe will be credited to your donation history.

What is a matching gift and will my company match my gift to Acorns to Oaks Foundation?

  • A matching gift is a donation from the company you work for to your designated area of giving. Each company varies in policy and may match 1:1 or 3:1, increasing your contribution.
