Garden Hills, home to an average of 600 students for 6 grades (K-5), is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) school. We also house a Georgia Pre-K classroom new for Fall 2015.
We hold our students to the highest academic standards while providing them with the direction, support, and encouragement they need to be successful. We provide a positive learning environment designed to help children reach their full potential – both as students and individuals. Our school has a well-earned reputation for effectively and creatively meeting the needs of each child. We maintain our standard of excellence by providing our students with model foreign language programs, gifted education options, rigorous and challenging academic programs, innovative art and music classes, physical education and special needs.
Georgia has joined the majority of states in formally adopting a set of core standards (Common Core State Standards) for kindergarten through high school in English language arts and mathematics. Garden Hills has well positioned itself to incorporate the principles of the Common Core standards into the framework of the IB program. The Common Core State Standards provide clear and consistent learning goals to help prepare students for college, career, and life. The standards clearly demonstrate what students are expected to learn at each grade level, so that every parent and teacher can understand and support their learning. Garden Hills also utilizes differentiated teaching. The Differentiated Instruction is a framework for effective teaching that involves providing different students with different avenues to learning, often in the same classroom.
At Garden Hills Elementary, students benefit from student-centered learning environments focused on promoting unity and long lasting friendships. Our children are taught respect for the individual and are empowered to go out into the world with compassion and caring for others.
